About Us
Humberto de Castro e Nobre, DVM, MS is originally from the city of Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He’s a sixth-generation rancher. He completed a degree in Veterinary Medicine in his home country and then moved to the USA to specialize. He lived in Wisconsin, Kentucky, Texas, Alabama, and New York, working with horses, commercial cattle, bucking bulls, and others. During his internships, residency and master’s studies, he focused on general care, surgeries, breeding soundness examinations, artificial insemination, embryo transfer and more.
In October of 2019, Dr. Nobre and Dr. Norberg moved to their family’s cattle ranch in Brazil. Humberto’s passion for the Texas Longhorn breed led him to chase a dream of raising Texas Longhorn cattle in his home country. He gathered a group of cattle producers who also shared the same passion for the Texas Longhorn breed. Dr. Nobre helped to get the Texas Longhorn breed recognized by the Brazilian Government in 2019. After that, the Brazilian Texas Longhorn Breeders Association (Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Texas Longhorn – ABRALHO) was founded by a group of breeders in 2020. In 2021, a breed-up program was approved, and they started cattle inspections and registrations. He worked tirelessly with Brazilian Officials, Exporting/Importing Companies, quarantine facilities, and veterinarian clinics to get shipping prices, documentations, and arrangements to make everything work.
The connections that Dr. Nobre accumulated over the years in Brazil and in USA facilitated the development and progression of these Texas Longhorn projects. The Texas Longhorn breed is currently the fastest growing breed in Brazil.
